Camberwell Signage System: Concept and Design
Concept and Mock Up for Camberwell College
During my time at University in London, we had to do a concept and Mock up for the future signage system for Camberwell College of the Arts. This project I've done together with three lovely people which I've met through Erasmus: Elina (Finland), Jonathan and Raffaella (Brazil). We were all new to this college and when we've entered Camberwell College the first time, we felt immediately its crafting tradition. Everywhere you can find people crafting and working together. Based on this experience we've decided to base our signage system on the old lettering system from letter press. As Camberwell is one of the Colleges which has still a letter press, we've started developing a system for using single letters which are also able to use for printing on the walls. Also the big signs which have to be editable all the time, we've developed a system that the college will be able to switch and change them as they have to. Signs for fixed rooms like the cafeteria will be printed directly on the walls. During the project I was involved in every process but especially in working out the concept which contains also the technical details for the flexible system and building the Mock-up.
